Four Des Moines area charities, including ChildServe, received checks Thursday for $22,000 each following a promotion in July.

Gabus Automotive in Des Moines presented checks to the Ronald McDonald House, Bras For the Cause, Make A Wish Foundation and ChildServe.Gabus customers helped make the donation possible."In July of every year, we run a sale and give $100 for every car we sell. Each year, we pick four organizations to give it to because my dad always believed that we needed to give back to the community," said Gene Gabus of Gabus Automotive Group.Gabus said it's been giving a portion of July sales to organizations since the Floods of 1993.
